Pusat Ehsan is delighted to announce the opening of its new branch in Belait district. This building provides an inspirational new environment for special needs around the community.

Pusat Ehsan Kuala Belait branch at lot 274 Jalan Maulana was designed and reconstruct to meet the needs of people with different disabilities.

The school is now in operation with an initial eleven students, all with Down Syndrome. According to the school coordinator, Dyg Haminah, there are more than 60 enthusiastic children and young adults with various disabilities that are interested to register.

With the opening of the new branch, the next goal in mind is to advocate the students needs and capabilities. Aiming to provide comprehensive range of intervention and support, which includes a focused instruction in core academic areas, social skill development, vocational skill development, improving health and fitness and acheiving highest independence of all students.  

The Management is optomistically looking forward to enhance the Belait branch services and programmes to cater for more students. Acquiring more teaching staff, appropriate equipment and material will have to undertake before taking more student to ensure service excellence.

Alhamdulillah! Just within seven days Pusat Ehsan is blesssed to received a total amount of B$22,564.00 worth of donations, thanks for the kind and generous contribution of the following companies and individuals:

A total of B$7,114.00 was received and the amount were equally shared by 110 students and trainees of Pusat Ehsan and was presented to students on September 15, 2008. In addition, each student was also given gifts.

September 10, 2008 (Wednesday). Students, parents and staff Pusat Ehsan were treated by sumptuous Sungkai buffet at Arthini Café Catering and Restaurant.

Lead by Senior Trustee, Dato Paduka Haji Alimin Hj Abd Wahab and Board Trustee Mr. Tony Tan, the group were warmly greeted by Arthini Café’s Managing Director, Haji Sanusi bin Haji Tahir.

Arthini Café Catering and Restaurant plays an important role in charity outreach, in particular to Pusat Ehsan, as the company plays as one of the valuable contributors in the recently concluded Pusat Ehsan Charity Bazaar 2008.

Friends of Pusat Ehsan together with Blood Donation Centre, Department of Laboratory Services under Ministry of Health jointly organized the Pusat Ehsan Blood Donation Campaign 2008 yesterday morning.

The Campaign, received support from more than 30 donors and was lead by Pusat Ehsan’s Senior Trustee, Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Mohd Alimin Abd Wahab. The donor and non-donors alike were also given free health check-up during the event.

The goal of the blood donation campaign is a respond to the MOH’s effort to promote awareness on the need for blood donors especially during the month of Ramadhan and highlighted the importance of this humanitarian act in saving people's lives.

Also present during the event was Pg Datin Hjh Norani PDNLDR Pg Hj Abd Momin, the centre’s Executive Trustee and Pusat Ehsan’s Staff and Supporters.

Sim Kim Huat Trading Co. Sdn Bhd invited Pusat Ehsan students to its fun-day activity last Friday at SKH Sengkurong Branch.

The SKH FUN DAY was highlighted creative games and resourceful services intended to raise fund for charity. The student together with their parents had a great time playing games and enjoying the complimentary refreshment that organizer prepared. The occasion becomes more festive-mood after the appearance of KFC mascots, that entertained all that was present.

Also, during the occasion, a B$ 3,000 cheque donation was handed by the Managing Director of SKH Supermarket and Department Store, Mr. Lee Chiap Kiang to Pusat Ehsan’s Board Trustee, Mr. Tony Tan. According to Mr. Lee Chiap Kiang, the donation is a company support and assistance to charity mission of Pusat Ehsan.

Staff of Royal Brunei Catering (RBC) lead by its General Manager Awang Haji Omarali bin Haji Mohd Daud visited Pusat Ehsan last Friday.

“The aim of our visit is to get to know more about Pusat Ehsan and to look at the areas on which we could help and contribute” , according to Aircraft Admin Controller, Md Rizam bin Haji Abd Aziz.

Haji Ahmad bin Haji Abd Rahman (Pusat Ehsan’s Policy and Planning Trustee) together with other Board Trustees welcomed and briefed the RBC staff about the centre’s status, achievements and future development plans. The group also had the privilege to tour the classes, workshop and services units.

The RBC staff commenced their visitation by serving all students with a meal which they specially prepared and a time to mingle with the centre’s students and staff.

25 August 2008 (Monday) - Vision Illusion Salon Gadong represented by two of its professional saloonist performed for the second charity hair-cut to the special children at Gazebo Pusat Ehsan today commencing at 9.00 am. More than 10 special kids who missed the first charity hair-cut in July 2008 are all ready for their turns. Ms Ammy the manageress of the salon said that the aim of this activity is a part of her social responsibility by offering services to the community especially to those special children at Pusat Ehsan.

Vision Illusions Salon is a hair & beauty Salon situated at Unit 15, Bangunan Haji Tahir 2 Kg. Menglait Gadong. It associated with Pusat Ehsan for last few years by offering hair-cut services and periodically contributing cash and in kind to the centre. Head of Administration in his welcome remarks conveys his appreciation and thanks to the manageress of Vision Illusion Salon for her commendable gesture and services to Pusat Ehsan.

15 August 2008 (Friday)- 12 wives of Malaysian’s Senior civil officers, headed by Puan Sri Wan Noorlina binti Wan Hussien visits Pusat Ehsan today. They are in Brunei Darussalam to accompany their respective husband on three-day visit as part plan exchange of civil service senior executive programme hosted by Brunei Darussalam.

During the visit Haji Ahmad bin Haji Abd Rahman member of Board Of Trustee Pusat Ehsan briefs them on the status of Pusat Ehsan as non-government and non- profit making organization that provides quality education, training, care and rehabilitation services to special needs children in Brunei Darussalam. The group then tours the centre and mingled with the special needs children and their trainers. Puan Sri Wan Noorlina then kindly presented a donation of RM$3000.00 to Pusat Ehsan Fund.

5 August 2008 (Tuesday) - A group of 50 personnel from the Marching Course and Administration of the PTB Kanan of RBAF conduct an intensive cleaning campaign at Pusat Ehsan as part of their community service. They start off by cleaning around the premises and move to the compound of the centre. They do minor repairs that needed fixing, dose the blocked drain as well as watering the plants and orchids in the area.

The commanding officer, Major Pengiran Saripuddin and Haji Ahmad bin Haji Abd Rahman, member of Board of Trustee Pusat Ehsan took the opportunity to plan mango trees at Pusat Ehsan’s garden. Haji Ahmad expressed his gratitude to the team of the personnel by thanking them with token of appreciation for their efforts in contributing to the community.

The official presentation of Cash Order of $2,970.00 is to be held today at 10.00 am at the Administration Lobby, Pusat Ehsan. The cash is the proceed from the sale of coupons and sale of materials by HSBC Bank Staff during Pusat Ehsan Charity Bazaar on 3rd August 2008.

At the ceremony Mr. Teo Boon Huat, Mdm Tan Siew Tian and Mdm Emily Lim, the manager/manageress of HSBC officially hand-over the cash to Haji Abd. Hamid Maaruf, Head of Administration of Pusat Ehsan. Haji Abd. Hamid Maaruf thanks HSBC Banks Officers and staff for their participation and strong support to the success of the bazaar.
