A total of twenty teachers from the centre attended an introductory workshop on Synthetic Phonics. This workshop is in conjunction with the recent educational materials that was donated to Pusat Ehsan by CfBT Education Services (B) Sdn Bhd.
Presented by Juliet Cowley, English Language Teaching Manager of CfBT Brunei; Synthetic Phonics is a method of teaching student to read in their initial stage of learning. The method is taught with 44 sounds in English and blending these sounds with a letter or group of letters in order to efficiently read words and sencentes. This teaching made fun and can be taught effectively through multi-sensory and motor approaches (hearing, sight, tactile, vocalization and motor planning) that will enhance learning by every students especially with special needs.
Synthetic Phonics has proven to be a very effective and is largely used around the world.
The workshop is a part the organization's vision and continued endeavour in bringing excellent services to people with special needs in the country.
